After another weekend parkrun, Iβm reminded how much running and working in events have in common, and how one constantly strengthens the other.
Running teaches discipline. You show up, no matter the weather, no matter how you feel. In events, itβs the same; early starts, long days, and the expectation to deliver … every time.
It builds resilience. Not every run feels great, and not every event goes perfectly. But you learn to adapt, push through challenges, and keep moving forward.
It sharpens focus. When youβre pacing yourself through a 5K, youβre constantly assessing, adjusting, and planning your next move – just like managing timelines, teams, and logistics on event day.
And perhaps most importantly, it reminds you of the power of community. Parkrun, like events, brings people together. Itβs about shared experiences, energy, and creating something meaningful – whether thatβs a finish line or a flawless production.
Running keeps me energised, and ready to tackle whatever the week throws at me.
